Ms Wheelchair Nigeria

Ms Wheelchair Nigeria is a competition to select the most accomplished and articulate spokeswoman for the over 20 million people living with disabilities in Nigeria. Ms. Wheelchair competition started in USA since 1972. It is not a beauty contest.

Our Mission

To provide an opportunity for women achievers who happen to use wheelchairs to successfully advocate for persons living with disabilities in Nigeria and raise awareness of the abilities and needs of the disability community in order to influence attitudinal, architectural, and social change for all Nigerians.

To become role models of hope and courage, who inspire and motivate Nigerians to greater heights.

Background

Persons living with disabilities in Nigeria have shown great talents, capabilities, determination and courage. Most of these great achievements go unnoticed because of the attitude of the society towards them. They are stigmatised, stereotyped and marginalised. They suffer from low self esteem. It is because of these growing needs that Ms. Wheelchair Nigeria was born.
